Embarrassing gaffe by Casey DeSantis, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Ron Desantis, of whom she is considered the main advisor: just over a month before the Iowa caucuses, which mark the beginning of the primaries, she invited during an interview on Fox News moms and grandmothers to come from everywhere to participate in the electoral debates in which voters decide who to vote for. The appeal violates the law, according to which only those who are legally resident of Iowa can be admitted to the caucuses, complete with ID, as the local Grand Old Party also specified in a tweet. Students who live outside the country are excluded, and can choose where to register.
Hours after the misstep, the former TV reporter turned aspiring first lady acknowledged the mistake, but insisted there were other ways to "participate," such as volunteering to support her husband.
