Eni starts the creation of a new super computing system, the High Performance ComputingHPC6 to enhance the computational capacity of the Green Data Center which will make up to a peak of 600 million billion complex mathematical operations possible per second.

The HPC6 architecture was conceived with the same technology that constitutes the most powerful systems in Europe and the world today: the system and its storage will be supplied by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, winner of the tender which involved the main global players.

"In line with the ongoing commitment to sustainability - we read in a note - HPC6 will have energy performance that will improve consumption efficiency and minimize carbon emissions and will be installed in a dedicated area at the Green Data Center where a new liquid cooling system has been created for even more sustainable and efficient management".

"Through this initiative we continue to significantly support our technological leadership, reaffirming Eni's role in supercomputing, and we relaunch our ambitions in the field of infrastructures dedicated to it", explains Eni's CEO, Claudio Descalzi.

"This project reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and digitalisation to also serve our energy transition journey. The new HPC system significantly enhances our computing capabilities and marks a new turning point in the way we address the challenges of energy security, competitiveness and sustainability".
