Carabinieri from the Provincial Command of Catania are engaged in an anti-drug operation against a group accused of managing three cocaine, crack and marijuana dealing centers in the populous Librino neighbourhood.
There are three hundred soldiers, with the support of specialized departments, committed to carrying out two precautionary custody orders against 14 suspects, one of whom was a minor at the time of the disputed facts.
The hypothesized crimes, variously, are criminal association aimed at illicit trafficking of narcotic substances, receiving stolen goods and invasion of land or buildings.
According to the accusation, the 'turnover' would have allowed the group to take in several thousand euros a day, proceeds from drug dealing to several hundred 'customers'.
Among the 'services' offered by the association also the availability of an entire apartment, a real 'Drug Room', where customers could take drugs in complete safety, away from prying eyes.
Imaginative code language used by pushers to indicate the various types of drugs: packs of cigarettes or dog food for marijuana.
Used cryptic language, such as a beer, half a beer, or a 40-watt light bulb, to indicate quantities of cocaine.
The Carabinieri are also following the preventive seizure of five apartments owned by the Institute for Autonomous Social Housing in the building complex in Viale Nitta 12, believed to be used as a logistical base for the illicit activity and partly occupied illegally.
At the center of the 'Sottosopra' operation are investigations, since September 2021 to October 2022, of soldiers of the Armadella Fontanarossa company coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the Prosecutor's Office for minors of Catania
