A woman from Australia was shocked when she found out that after having two painful miscarriages, she became pregnant with quadruplets, but not just any quadruplets but that she was pregnant with 2 pairs of identical twins at the same time.
23-year-old Yvonne Epps and her partner, 21-year-old Jayden, are due to welcome quadruplets in April, with doctors also amazed by their rare pregnancy.
"One of the nurses at our hospital said she had never seen a woman pregnant with two sets of identical twins in her 30-year career," Epps said in an interview with Caters News, "Our doctor told us that quadruplet pregnancies are about a 1 in -700,000, and being pregnant with two sets of identical twins is even rarer."
The chance of such a pregnancy is about 1 in 70 million, according to AL.com.
At their first scan last September, the young couple were told they were expecting twins.
However, a month later, doctors discovered that there were two babies in each of the sacs, meaning she was pregnant with two sets of identical twins.
Having suffered two miscarriages before this pregnancy, Epps found it hard to believe when she was told she was carrying four babies.
"I almost passed out when we found out there were four and Jayden was speechless," she recalled, "There's nothing that can prepare you for that news."
The young couple currently lives in a two-room apartment and they are worried about how they will be able to provide for the 4 children who are about to arrive.
However, the two have already made plans for the birth and surprisingly the pregnancy goes to zero quite easily.
"Considering the fact that we found out we have four babies and not just what we thought we would have, everything is going smoothly and well," the mother-to-be stated.
The couple will also soon find out the gender of their twins.
"We have a gender reveal in the next few weeks and I'm so excited to find out what we have," Epps said, "It'll be nice to know what I'm growing there."
Epps scheduled a caesarean section for April and the couple is trying to prepare as much as possible for their four future children.
"We're moving into a new house next week and we're in the process of buying a bigger car," she stated, "I'm feeling pretty good about everything."

"When we first found out the news, we both went into a state of utter shock - and we were so worried about how we would take care of and provide for four babies, but I know we will get through it," Epps added with cautious optimism.
While the pregnancy is incredibly rare, an American woman gave birth to two sets of identical twins at the same time last year.
Hannah Carmack, 29, of Alabama gave birth to twins Evelyn and Adeline and twins David and Daniel on March 14, according to AL.com.
