Roadblocks on several motorways leading to Paris began, as threatened by the farmers' unions, around 2pm. The A13 from Normandy is blocked by tractors, as is the A4 coming from the east.
An urgent, small council of ministers will meet at 3.15pm at the Elysée, around President Emmanuel Macron, to take stock of the situation.
15,000 policemen and gendarmes are deployed on the ground to avoid blocking airports and general markets.
'In Spain lost 12 billion a day due to protests in France'
The Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM) has estimated the losses caused by protests by French farmers at 12 billion euros a day, with road blocks paralyzing the movement of goods.
Cetm denounces in a note the damages suffered by Spanish hauliers and at the same time states "that it has no news of the actions carried out by the national executive" to protect the interests of the category.
The reference is to today's statements by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, who assured: "We are working to resolve the situation, for us it is a priority to support our hauliers", he said, quoted by RTVE.
The confederation also denounces that the French government is demanding from Spanish hauliers, who have been attacked in pickets and roadblocks, a payment associated with cleaning services carried out on French motorways.
He therefore urges Minister Planas to intervene with the European Commission and the Paris government, so that "the free circulation of goods is guaranteed".
