Rewe and Kaufland affected by recall: Consuming vegetables can be dangerous for allergy sufferers

As the German food manufacturer Carl Kühne GmbH & Co KG announced on its website, it is recalling kale from the “Fix & Fertig” product line with item number 46245 with “immediate effect”.
The reason for the recall is inadequate allergen labeling.
In December, a product from a popular smoothie manufacturer also had to be recalled due to incorrect allergen labeling.
According to the company's own information, the allergen celery is contained in this product according to the recipe, but the back label does not declare this.
The product is therefore not suitable for allergy sufferers.
According to the Paul Ehrlich Institute, celery allergy is one of the most common food allergies in Northern Europe.
Itching and swelling in the mouth and throat, but also severe reactions (e.g. life-threatening anaphylactic shock) can occur.
However, consumption is safe for people who are not allergic to celery.

Recall due to health risk: How to provide first aid to allergy sufferers
Consumers who have already consumed the product affected by the vegetable recall should observe whether allergy symptoms such as complaints on the skin, in the mouth and throat as well as in the respiratory tract or in the stomach and intestines occur or, if necessary, go to an emergency room.

Vegetables from cans or jars are particularly popular with fans of quick cooking.
