In many schools, working with digital devices is increasingly being integrated into lessons.
Sweden now wants to slow down this process.
One or two smartphones can already be discovered in strollers and in the hands of small children.
Tablets draped on the dining table are no longer uncommon when some families visit a restaurant.
Accordingly, children today often learn about the Internet at a young age.
This phenomenon is quickly spreading to various areas of adolescents' lives.
Many children do not like to open books regularly either privately or for school.
Tablets and laptops instead of exercise books and books
Reading and writing with books, pen and paper continues to be taught in the first grades.
A few school years later, the children are then supported with digital aids, now also in numerous German schools.
In middle and high school, some teachers let their students work on assignments in class, including using their own smartphones.
For example, papers and other presentations in group work can be quickly researched online.
Books and notebooks instead of tablets and laptops should now fill children's everyday school life in Sweden again.

In addition to regular computer science lessons in separate computer rooms, more and more schools are introducing so-called “tablet classes”.
Here every student receives a tablet for lessons, partly financed by the school and partly from home.
This is not only used for internet research, but also replaces the writing pad and offers a collection of digital worksheets and texts.
This not only makes the school backpack lighter, but also saves paper and prepares the children for their future work with digital devices.

Sweden now wants to return to books in schools
According to the service website

digitalization in schools in Sweden is now at least being reversed to some extent.
The government announced that it would reverse its decision to make it compulsory for preschools to be equipped with digital devices.
The decisive factor for this decision was apparently a report from the renowned Karolinska Institute.
According to this, there would be clear scientific evidence that digital tools hinder rather than improve student learning.

, digital learning for children under the age of six will be canceled in Sweden.
For older students, books and writing with pen and paper should now be prioritized again.
In addition, Sweden is purchasing books for around 60 million euros this year in order to boost the reading behavior of the younger generation.
