A very bitter day for Roberto Mancini who, leading Saudi Arabia, is out of the Asian Cup.
The winner of the match in Doha valid for the round of 16 was the South Korea of the other former Sampdorian Jurgen Klinsmann, who won 5-3 after penalties.
But the result was a mockery for Mancini and his team, because the Saudis, who were ahead thanks to Radif's goal at the start of the second half, were caught in the ninth minute of injury time, therefore in the 99th minute, when model striker Cho Gue-sung he scored the equalizing goal.
There were no goals in extra time, so it went to penalties, where the protagonist was South Korean goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo, who saved spot kicks from Al-Najei and Ghareeb.
At that point Mancini left, towards the changing rooms and did not want to witness the decisive penalty for Korea, scored by Hwang Hee-chan.
Previously, still today, Uzbekistan had also qualified for the quarter-finals, beating Thailand 2-1 thanks to goals from Turgunboev and Fayzullaev.
