The Monstera is an impressive yet sensitive beauty.
Improper care quickly leaves traces.
You can usually solve the problems easily.
The window leaf (Monstera) is a large, impressive houseplant with magnificent, slotted or holey leaves.
Damaged, discolored leaves are less noticeable on smaller plants.
However, with the Monstera, which can grow up to three meters tall as a houseplant, they immediately catch the eye.
The giant plant is actually robust and quite undemanding, but brown or black-spotted leaves indicate a care error.
Causes of brown and spotted leaves

Brown leaves are a common symptom of window leaves.
In most cases you don't have to worry; you can get the plant back in shape with good care.
These are possible causes:
Location: The Monstera doesn't like drafts.
Since it is very vigorous, it also requires a lot of space around itself.
It should be bright but not in full sun.
Because sometimes brown spots (usually on the tips of leaves or edges) are also sunburn.
Humidity: The Monstera is a jungle plant and appreciates higher humidity.
Air in the room that is too dry can lead to brown leaves.

Temperature: The window leaf reacts sensitively to cold; the room temperature should always be above 20 degrees Celsius.
Waterlogging: If the edges of the leaves are brown, this may be due to incorrect watering behavior.
If the soil is too moist, this will lead to root rot.
Keep the Monstera dry rather than moist, watering about once a week.

Leaf spot or eyespot: Brown or blackish spots with a light border or center are a possible symptom of a fungal infection, for example with Spilocaea oleagina.
It usually helps to cut off the leaves immediately, water less and fertilize regularly.
Place the plant somewhat isolated in the room to avoid infecting other plants.
Is the Monstera perhaps too cool, is the humidity too high or is the irrigation water too cold?
Avoid spraying the leaves.
If all the changes don't help, you can resort to a fungicide.
The appropriate measure is always to cut off the damaged leaf with clean scissors and adjust the location and care of the Monstera.
You can also easily make offshoots from the Monstera if it no longer grows well.
