What is the willingness of companies to hire staff?
Economic researchers report on the current situation in this country.
The willingness of companies in Germany to hire staff is declining.
The Ifo employment barometer fell to 95.5 points in January, after 96.5 points in December.
The Munich Ifo Institute announced this on January 29th.
“The difficult economic situation is now also reflected in personnel planning,” said Klaus Wohlrabe, head of the Ifo surveys, according to the announcement.
“Companies are rather reluctant to hire new people.
The first layoffs are becoming more likely.”

Economic researcher: Pessimism pervades almost all industries
Industrial companies are “still assuming a declining workforce,” as the economic researchers announced.
However, the barometer increased slightly here, from minus 13.5 to minus 13.0.
The pessimism extends “almost to all sectors”.
“In retail, more and more companies are thinking about layoffs because customers are not coming,” says the communication on the Ifo employment barometer.

Willingness to hire in the service sector
In the service sector, the willingness to hire has fallen.
“Nevertheless, the bottom line is that staff should still be hired here.
This applies in particular to IT service providers and the consulting industry,” the researchers continued.
The barometer also fell slightly in the construction industry.
The recession in construction is increasingly leaving its mark on personnel planning.
