In December 2023, industrial producer prices decreased by 0.9% on a monthly basis and by 16.0% on an annual basis (it was -12.8% in November).
Istat communicates this by specifying that, on average, in 2023 industrial producer prices will decrease by 5.7% (+34.4% in 2022).
The decline in prices during the year is explained by the dynamics recorded on the domestic market (-8.3%; +42.7% in 2022), which above all reflect the easing of tensions on the prices of energy products (-24.4% ; +104.3% in 2022);
net of these products, prices on the domestic market grow by 2.5% on average per year (+12.8% in 2022).
In construction for 'residential and non-residential buildings' the year closed with a price increase of 1.4%, and for 'roads and railways' by 1.2% (+8.2% and + respectively 8.3% in 2022).
The marked slowdown in growth in the construction sector mainly reflects the reductions in material costs, explains Istat.
