In 2023, Italian GDP, corrected for calendar and seasonally adjusted effects, increased by 0.7% compared to 2022, closing at +3.7%.
Istat made this known by specifying that in 2023 there were two working days less than in '22 and that the results of the annual national accounts will be released on March 1st.
The government estimate contained in the Nadef indicated growth of 0.8% for last year but, after the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas, the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti highlighted the risk of a slowdown in the economy and therefore of a revision to the decline in forecasts.
The change in Italian GDP acquired for 2024, the one that would be obtained if economic growth remained zero in the four quarters of 2024, is equal to +0.1%.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Italian GDP, adjusted for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted, increased by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter (slightly accelerating compared to the +0.1% in the months July-September) and by 0.5% on a yearly basis .
