Not even half of them are employed.

Anyone who wants to “benefit” from a 50 percent severe disability must meet certain requirements.
A medical expert determines the degree of disability.
“Basically, determining the disability is not about the type of illness or disability or a diagnosis, but always about a functional deficit, a corresponding duration (longer than six months) and the impact of the disability
on participation in life in society,” explains Dorothea Czennia from the social association VdK Germany.
What advantages do employees with a severe disability of 50 percent have?

or more constitutes a severe disability, which can have various advantages in working life.
The discounts and advantages include special protection against dismissal, a tax flat rate of 1,140 euros and additional vacation of five days according to the Social Security Code.
It is also possible to apply for financial support to equip the workplace.
In addition, severely disabled people with a disability of 50 are entitled to an old-age pension when they reach the age of 65, but they must have paid into the statutory pension insurance for at least 35 years.
There is also the option of applying for a disability pension if your health is no longer sufficient to work.
According to the Federal Government's Commissioner for the Disabled, a severe disability only occurs from a degree of 50.
For example, chronic intestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis with persistent symptoms are assessed as having a degree of disability of 50 to 60, as is chronic hepatitis, which has strong inflammatory activity.
Even those who suffer from severe migraines with only a few days between attacks can reach a level of disability of 50 to 60.
But rheumatism, severe acne or cancer are also considered severe disabilities.

Severe disability of 50 percent: Apply for state subsidies
Anyone who is classified as severely disabled can apply for subsidies, concessions and tax relief from the state.
