From 7 October to 31 December, 200 reports of discriminatory acts were received by the Oscad observatory, compared to 17 in the same period in 2022. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has certainly led to events of anti-Semitism and discrimination.
There is a widespread heterogeneity of behavior and there were only 9 reported, because many of the events are at the limit of the threshold of criminal relevance: perhaps a widespread cultural intervention is necessary to raise awareness of anti-Semitism". This was said by
the Chief of Police , Vittorio Pisani
, to the Parliamentary Commission for combating intolerance, racism and anti-Semitism.
"I want to reiterate the terrible sadness of the times we are living in.
For a Commission that is against hatred, everything that has been talked about gives the idea of a chilling atmosphere". This was said by
Liliana Segre
, president of the extraordinary Commission for the fight against the phenomena of intolerance, racism, anti-semitism and incitement to hatred and violence, at the end of the hearing of the Chief of Police, Vittorio Pisani.
