A thrombosis occurs due to blood clotting in the vessel.
The larger the blood clot that leads to thrombosis, the higher the risk of dangerous subsequent reactions.
In addition to arterial thrombosis, which is caused by arteriosclerosis, there is venous thrombosis, which often occurs in the leg, arm, shoulder girdle, pelvis, portal vein or even in the brain.
A venous thrombosis can occur due to varicose veins, lack of fluids, during operations, as an indication of a tumor or even during cancer.
Doctors speak of a thrombosis when a blood clot - that is, a blood clot or clot (Greek thrombus) - blocks a blood vessel, i.e. an artery or vein.
If the thrombus breaks away - some of it is already sufficient - it is transported in the bloodstream to the heart or lungs.
In the heart, the blood clot can result in a heart attack; in the lungs, the thrombus blocks the veins that are vital for breathing and can thus lead to a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.
There are ways to prevent thrombosis - if a blood clot still occurs, pay attention to physical signs.
Thrombosis: How it happens and where blood clots in the body become a problem

A thrombus forms as soon as blood clots.
Blood clotting is essentially a natural process and protective mechanism in the body.
If an external injury occurs, the body's coagulation system protects it from bleeding to death by clumping the blood and closing the wound.
However, the clot can become an obstacle and a danger in the blood vessels.

A resulting vascular occlusion can be very dangerous, especially in the deep leg and pelvic veins, according to the

In Germany, around 100,000 people die every year from a pulmonary embolism as a result of a thrombosis.
Pulmonary embolism is the third most frequently fatal cardiovascular disease after heart attacks and strokes.
With bright colors against thrombosis
Anyone who thinks that thrombosis or compression stockings only come in boring beige and black is wrong.
Athletes have long since discovered the beneficial effects of compression for regeneration after training.
