This appointment comes at a key moment for Unédic, which should generate a surplus of 4.4 billion in 2023 but carries a debt of 56 billion, while Gabriel Attal has demonstrated his desire to go further in the reform of the unemployment insurance.

During his general policy speech on Tuesday, the Prime Minister affirmed that he was “

extremely attentive to the evolution of the financial trajectory of unemployment insurance

”.

Although employers and certain unions signed a new agreement in November, its approval by the executive remains pending ongoing negotiations on the employment of seniors.

The government demands that this agreement generate at least 440 million euros in savings over the period 2024-2027, thanks in particular to raising the age limits for compensation for the unemployed.
