Andreas Steinhöfel “Rico, Oskar and the Deep Shadows”

The books about Rico and Oskar, which are set in Berlin, are a heartwarming ode to childhood that parents would love to read to their children again.

Andreas Steinhöfel is the first children's and young adult author to be a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry.

His series about Rico and Oskar was very successfully filmed for the cinema.

The book definitely belongs on the bookshelf and should be picked up again and again.

Rico is actually only supposed to keep a vacation diary.

But for someone who constantly loses track of things, it's not that easy!

When he gets to know Oskar with the blue helmet and the two of them track down the infamous ALDI kidnapper, Rico no longer knows where the front and the back are.

At least with Oskar the Deep Shadows lose some of their terror - and out of all the chaos a wonderful friendship emerges.

Jeff Kinney "Greg's Diary 18"

Greg doesn't like the change of school at all.

But when he finds out that he won't be able to go to this school with his best friend, there's a lot of trouble.

If it weren't for the stupid homework that needs to be done.

It's clear to Greg that a plan is needed.

How can he possibly avoid having to change schools and start all over again?

The casual writing and cartoons by Jeff Kinney ensure funny reading moments for young and old.

Actually, Greg always thought school was pretty stupid.

Do homework?

Cramming for math tests?

Reading school books?

Zero enthusiasm!

So when his school performs so poorly on a national test that it is forced to close, Greg isn't too upset.

Marc-Uwe Kling “The Smart Ass”

The Theufels recently moved into their new home, an old building with an attic full of secrets.

Despite the fact that playing in the attic is not welcome, Tina and Theo are magically drawn there.

The children also stumble upon a strange discovery in the attic: a little creature with a big mouth lives in a box full of books.

A real know-it-all who claims to only be visible to his peers!

Kling’s “The Trace Finder” is also suitable for young people.

In August 2023, the author also announced another series of novels.

Tina and Theo Theufel are struggling with parents who don't have a dog but want to eat beetroot all the time.

Plus, they always know everything better.

So the parents.

The children too.

After all, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

But Theo and Tina at least admit that they are smartasses.

Mom and Dad deny it.

This is of course absolutely ridiculous.
