Millionaire for several months without even knowing it.

In the United Kingdom, a 56-year-old woman discovered she was a millionaire months after playing her lottery ticket, reports the Mirror.

Last August, Deborah Burgess bought a lot of lottery tickets as she usually did, but quickly had to be hospitalized because of chronic anemia requiring a blood transfusion.

More concerned about her health, she forgets to look at the lottery results and doesn't think to check her emails.

It was only after some time that this hospital employee decided to sort through her mailbox and noticed one of them telling her that she was a millionaire.

If she sees that the issuer is indeed the National Lottery, she first thinks of spam, yet another online scam.

Despite her doubts, she decides to check her account, as recommended in the email, and realizes that she has been a millionaire for several months.

“The shock of my life”

“I got the shock of my life when I checked my account.

I was a millionaire for months without even knowing it,” she told the British tabloid.

“I don't check my account regularly, I was sick for a while and had to go to the hospital.

I then took a vacation to recover, so it took me months before I looked at my emails,” explains the 50-year-old.

To ensure her winnings of one million pounds, or nearly 1.2 million euros, she telephoned the national lottery which confirmed the good news.

Her ticket validated on August 19, where she played the numbers 2, 7, 17, 28, 31, 37 and the bonus number 8, indeed allows her to be a millionaire.

“Collecting that big check and squirting champagne like an F1 driver was worth it,” she quips.

A phone call that changed his life and will allow him to spend the vacation of his dreams in Hawaii or to undertake work on his house.

She also decided to buy a new car, a "nice second-hand Hyundai", and decided to sell her Peugeot 2008 to her best friend for a symbolic pound sterling.
