Trailer for the movie Barbie/PR
If you have lived on the planet in the last year, it is likely that you will have come across one of the PR promotions that were made for the movie "Barbie", which not only received a promotional campaign that had never been seen before, but was also successful and was one of the most successful movies of the last few years. The movie broke box offices around the world, crossed the The billion dollar mark with revenues close to 1.5 billion dollars, and became a cultural phenomenon that could not be missed.
All this was probably not enough for the members of the Academy, who chose not to put the film's lead actress,
Margot Robbie
, nor its director,
Greta Gerwig,
for nominations for this year's Oscar Awards ceremony. The film itself did receive a nomination for Best Picture, so did the actress
America Ferrera
who received a nomination as the supporting actress and ironically, even the actor
Ryan Gosling
received a nomination for his role as Ken.
The network was in an uproar following the Academy's ignoring of the two successful women and there were quite a few complaints That it's about preserving the patriarchy. The big uproar also led to Gosling himself responding saying that he was disappointed that the two weren't nominated, but Robbie herself has kept relatively quiet so far.

The actress came to a special screening of the film this week and finally addressed the storm: "There is too much to be grateful for, there is no way to feel disappointed when you know you are so blessed," she said.
The actress added that "Obviously I think that Greta should have been nominated as a director, because what she did is a once in a career, once in a lifetime thing."
The actress preferred to focus on the glass half full, considering the fact that she is actually nominated as a producer of the film, which is nominated in the category of best film, as well as Gerwig who is nominated together with Noah Baumbach for the category of best adapted screenplay: "We set out to do something that would change the culture and it has already been done . Much more than we ever dreamed it would happen. And that's really the biggest reward that can come out of all of this."
The actress added: "I've never been a part of something like this. I can't think of a time when a movie has had such an impact on culture. And it's amazing to be in the eye of the storm."
