A bakery chain is bankrupt.
In the coming days, the last branches and cafés in Germany will also have to close permanently.

High costs become a constant burden for many.

The Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof department store chain also filed for bankruptcy again.
Now a bakery chain is also affected by closures.
German bakery chain is insolvent: which branches are already closed
The locations of the Lila Bäcker baking chain were mainly found in northern Germany.
As of January 1st, numerous branches had to close and around a third of the employees had to leave the company.
Employees and customers of the large bakery “ Unser Heimatbäcker GmbH ” with the production of bread and rolls in Pasewalk (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and “ Unser Heimatbäcker Logistik GmbH ” were also affected.
Branches and cafés have already been closed in these cities, among others:
Berlin
Brandenburg: Blankenfelde-Mahlow, Brandenburg an der Havel, Cottbus, Pasewalk, Potsdam
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Greifswald, Kühlungsborn, Neubrandenburg, Rostock, Schwerin, Wismar
Schleswig-Holstein: Lübeck
Next company insolvency in Germany due to the “difficult market conditions”
According to the bakery chain's insolvency, the main reason behind the bankruptcy was the “difficult market conditions due to increased energy and raw material prices”.
The chain announced this at the beginning of January.
The increased minimum wage and the increased VAT in the catering industry would also cause additional burdens.
The insolvent baking chain Lila Bäcker will close all remaining branches on February 1, 2024.

Negotiations with investors for an overall solution for the 232 branches and 1,600 employees had failed.
Therefore, initially only 160 branches should be continued by insolvency administrator Christian Graf Brockdorff.
But here too there is bad news for employees and customers in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein.

German bakery chain finally goes bankrupt: 160 branches are closed
The last offer from an investor was also rejected by the banks, according to a statement on Friday (January 19).
This means that not only the remaining 900 employees in the branch network, logistics and administration will be laid off.
The remaining 160 branches, for example in Berlin and Potsdam, as well as the bakery in Pasewalk will also be closed.
Investors are only still being sought for the Mäkelbörger KuchenManufaktur in Neubrandenburg.
“The branches will then remain closed from January 29th,” explained insolvency administrator Brockdorff.
Bread and rolls will be baked for the purple bakers one last time on January 26th, then customers will have to look for a new bakery in the area.
Branches that are currently still open could possibly be taken over by other competitors after they close at the turn of the month.
