People who wear glasses are often confronted with fogged up lenses in cold weather.
There are three tools you can use to get the problem under control.
Whether entering a restaurant, wearing a scarf or simply cooking at home: people who wear glasses are regularly surprised by fogged up lenses, especially during the cold season.
It usually takes a while until visibility is clear again.
Why do people who wear glasses always have blurry vision in winter?
The fogging occurs due to the temperature difference: If you enter a heated room after first being outside in the cold, then the warm air inside hits cool glasses lenses.
The air suddenly cools down upon contact and can no longer hold as much moisture - so it condenses on the glasses.
The fog only disappears once the glasses have adjusted to the ambient temperature.

No more fogged up lenses: what you can do about it
Even if the moisture on the lenses disappears on its own, it can be annoying for people who wear glasses to regularly have blurred vision.
Usually the sleeve of a sweater or a handkerchief quickly provides relief.
However, it is better to have a microfiber cloth with you, as this is gentle on the lenses and, unlike other textiles, does not cause scratches.

Opticians recommend, among other things, special anti-fog glasses cleaning cloths that not only remove condensation, but also apply a fine coating to the lenses.
This should prevent the glasses from fogging up again for around 24 hours.
An anti-fog spray fulfills the same function as anti-fog glasses cleaning cloths and is recommended, for example, by the
Central Association of Opticians and Optometrists (ZVA)
.
It is applied to both sides of the lens and is intended to provide clear vision for around 72 hours.
However, the glasses should be cleaned well beforehand.
An alternative is the anti-fog pen.
If you prefer to try home remedies first, you can use a mild, non-greasy dishwashing liquid or liquid soap.
Put a little of it on the lenses of the glasses, rub it in and then clean them with a microfiber cloth.
Detergent and liquid soap can disrupt the surface tension so that water no longer settles on the glasses.
However, you should be careful if your glasses have a special coating - this can be damaged with home remedies.
