The Ministry of Health publishes today (Thursday) an update to the procedure for receiving the abductees who return from Gaza in the hospitals.

Due to the medical, mental and social complexities involved in the event of return from captivity, which require an immediate response in the hospitals, and then a personalized response in the community, the Ministry of Health decided to update the protocol.

This, after the return of the abductees as part of the beatings in November and as part of drawing conclusions regarding the envelope and the treatment they received.

In addition, there is a reference in the protocol to the transition of treatment from the hospital to medical treatment in the community and establishing an adapted response over time.

Among other things, regarding the privacy of the returnees, the remaining strictness will continue to preserve privacy and medical confidentiality with regard to the transfer of information.

All this, including the conduct of the returnees in front of the media.

In addition, a list of permanent entry permits for the returnee departments will be created for the relevant professional and security forces.

Each of the returnees will be assigned a liaison nurse from the HMO to which they are associated, and will coordinate the resources required for them, including arranging the transition to community care at the end of the hospitalization.

Each of the returnees will be assigned a social worker from the hospital who will accompany them personally.

The accompaniment will also include the contact with the relevant parties such as the Ministry of Welfare and the National Insurance.

In addition, the returnees, as well as the medical team, will be accompanied by a psychiatrist.

Furthermore, as part of the medical treatment for returnees and returnees from Gaza, the infectious disease testing panel was expanded.

Regarding the field of sexual abuse, war crimes and torture during captivity, the hospitals were directed to hold a refresher meeting for the medical teams regarding the treatment of acute injury and its consequences, with the teams being instructed to do so while giving the consent and choice of the returnees.
