How is that possible?

Many people ask themselves this when faced with a Kaufland voucher.

The pawn champion named Franz is very proud of it - and tells the details.

Königs Wusterhausen - A real pawn Croesus is causing a stir on Reddit.

“I have the feeling that I’m not normal,” he writes about the photo of his Kaufland receipt.

The amount is not yet so high that it would be a world record: a couple from Schleswig-Holstein finally gave a deposit for 1,358.31 euros at Rewe and Nahkauf in one day, see video above.

And another customer caused a stir with a €415.94 note.

But the Reddit user now comes up with an amount that is enough to amaze: 245.94 euros.

Which, of course, he himself had once paid as a deposit, but which has now given up a hefty chunk of money.

Franz posted this photo of his Kaufland receipt on Reddit - he sent our editorial team additional images.

Kaufland customer collects 245.94 euros deposit - and wants to frame a receipt

The Reddit photo shows his receipt from January 29, 2024 in front of a shopping cart.

It was created in the Kaufland branch in Königs Wusterhausen (Brandenburg).

All of this cannot be verified, but it is very definitely real, especially since the deposit champion is willing to provide our editorial team with details.

His name is Franz, he is 25 years old and lives in Königs Wusterhausen.

And is extremely proud of his empties prank.

Which also gets its place of honor at home: “I had the receipt given to me at Kaufland because I would like to have it framed,” he explains to tz.de.

Reddit users are amazed.

There were more than 350 comments in the first 13 hours.

“Have you booked an appointment beforehand?” asks one for hundreds of likes.

Another jokes: “If I were rich enough for such a large property that I could store so many bottles, I wouldn't lift the deposit machine insertion arm for the few cents.” Franz explains to our editorial team: He lives in a normal apartment spacious basement.

It is not a large family, but a two-person household that has made it a habit to collect the empties and take them away.

The last time, as far as he remembers, was in September.

“We haven’t seen anything less than 120 euros for years.”

How did the Kaufland voucher actually come about?

Nevertheless, how does such an amount come about?

After all, there are around 1,000 disposable containers.

Franz explains online: “I personally have to admit that I also drink a lot of unhealthy stuff.

Often something comes here and there in cans, small bottles, etc. It starts with drinking an energy drink, a cola or an iced tea from a can every day.

Well, one of them would be lying now.

A few more, probably.”

Do you really make friends with so much deposit in Kaufland?

Franz was very considerate

However, such large quantities of empties don't always make you popular, notes a Reddit user.

“I once worked in a pawn shop and I can tell you that I and all the other customers hated people like you (no offense).” Another says: “So to add my two cents as a former grocery store employee, customers like that always really fucked up.

If you run to the machine every five minutes, you can take out a bag bigger than your own future and, in the worst case scenario, tie the bale with wire.

Since I started working there, I only give away deposits in carefully measured quantities.” This is in line with a Rewe employee who once commented on a particularly large deposit amount with “I hate people”.

Franz's deposit deposit at Kaufland was probably quite unproblematic and, above all, considerate, he remembers: three car trips to Kaufland and back were necessary.

And according to him, neither employees nor other customers were annoyed.

“In our local Kaufland there are a total of three deposit machines next to each other, and - as you can see on the receipt - I took everything away throughout the day and in the end redeemed all five receipts together,” says Franz, who is important to mention: “ At no time did a line form behind me.

On the contrary, most of the time only the machine I used and one of the two other available machines were occupied.

Even in Kaufland itself nothing was met with negativity.”

The Brandenburger even sparked a certain enthusiasm among a supermarket employee, he remembers: “At the checkout of the Kaufland drinks market, the very friendly and open-hearted cashier was even happy with me because she had never seen such a deposit amount before.” He also makes it clear: “And no, I didn’t drive a truck – unfortunately.

My talent for playing Tetris with returnable bottles must have caused astonishment here.”

The Kaufland customer's annoyance: he forgot a bag in the basement

When asked how sad he was not to have cracked the 250 euros, Franz answered: “Very.

What was even worse was when I got home and saw that I hadn't seen a sack in the basement.

That’s probably another 15 euros.” How annoying!

But he's certainly already collecting for the next record.

Did you know that you should never put a certain drink on the checkout conveyor?
