Dogs form social relationships – just like people.
But why is it that a four-legged friend particularly likes someone?
After the cat, the dog is the most popular pet in Germany.
And dogs like people too.
However, just like the two-legged friends, the animals make differences: A study by the
University of Veterinary Medicine
in Vienna has shown that dogs recognize their owner's face in videos and react positively to them.
When it comes to strangers, it is difficult to assess in advance how the four-legged friends will behave: some are willing to be petted, while others keep their distance and start barking.
This can have various reasons.
Human behavior influences dogs

Dogs are pack animals and are capable of social bonds.
This also means that they like certain members of their species or people better than others, explains Juliane Bräuer from the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena to
Deutschlandfunk
.
In a study at the University of Kyoto in Japan, a team of researchers also found that dogs observe people very closely and imitate the behavior of their owners - just as small children do.
If they treat other people warmly, it is likely that the dog will also be open.
However, if you argue with the other person, the four-legged friend also stays at a distance.
In addition, there are people who are generally attractive to dogs.
These are often people who appear relaxed and confident.

Your own experiences shape the relationship between dog and human
Does your dog always start barking when tall, blonde men come to visit, dark-haired, short women approach them or he sees small children?
Then it is likely that he has had bad experiences with this type of person in the past.
Dogs store both positive and negative experiences and continue to react according to this behavioral pattern in the future.
Body language: This is how dogs show their affection
Whether a dog likes you or not is very easy to tell, even for laypeople.
According to geo
magazine
and the animal protection organization
PETA
, these signs indicate that your four-legged friend enjoys being petted by you:
