For the collection warehouse, the latest data, referring to 31 December 2023, "amount overall to over 1,200 billion, and contain approximately 163 million between tax bills, debit notices and executive assessment notices, an impressive amount".
This was stated by the director of the Revenue Agency, Ernesto Maria Ruffini, in 'Telefisco 2024' of Il Sole 24 Ore.
"A good part of this amount is not recoverable" and "101 billion remain to be collected", but it must be considered, he explains, that for debtors there are "limitations to collection due to interventions by the legislator".
These provide, for example, the unassailability of the first home or capital goods under the taxpayer's control.
