Asian and Pacific stock markets without a precise direction, with the Tokyo Stock Exchange down 0.7% weighed down by banks eyeing the collapse of New York Community Bancorp on Wall Street.
Hong Kong rose by 0.4%, while Chinese stock markets lost a few fractions of a point due to the weakness of the real estate sector.
Seoul did well, rising by a final 1.8%, with Sydney closing down by 1.2%.
