Italy should do more to protect its automotive jobs rather than attacking Stellantis for producing less in our country.
“This is a scapegoat in an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for the fact that if subsidies are not given for the purchase of electric vehicles, the plants in Italy are put at risk,” said the CEO of Stellantis , Carlos Tavares, interviewed by Bloomberg about the criticisms of the prime minister, Giorgia Meloni.
The CEO of Stellantis indicated Mirafiori, where the electric 500 is produced, and Pomigliano as the Italian factories whose jobs are most at risk as a result of the policies of the Meloni government, accused of not supporting the spread of electric mobility in Italy.
"If Tavares or others believe that Italy should do as France did, which recently increased its share capital within the Stellantis shareholding structure, ask us. If they want active participation we can always discuss it."
The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, said this at the end of the automotive discussion.
