From bilateral cooperation in the political, economic-commercial, cultural and security fields, to international crises: a wide range of topics will be addressed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, scheduled for Monday (at 10.30 am Italian time) as part of the visit official three-day meeting (from Sunday to Tuesday) of the Prime Minister in Tokyo.
It will be a sort of handover in a G7 key, between Japan which led it in 2023 and Italy which has held the presidency since January.
The meeting will allow us to share the priorities of the Italian presidency and ensure continuity on the main topics on the agenda of the Japanese presidency.
Rome, Italian sources explain, intends to follow up the Hiroshima process on generative artificial intelligence, delving into the question of the guiding principles and code of conduct for companies that develop this technology.
Another shared priority, the same sources underline, is stability in the Indo-Pacific, among the issues on the international agenda that will be addressed at a working dinner, together with the crises in Gaza and the Red Sea, the war in Ukraine and the situation in Afghanistan.
On Monday, before the bilateral meeting, Meloni will meet the leaders of some of the most important Japanese companies, with the aim of promoting industrial collaborations and attracting investments in Italy.
