The Asiago Cheese Protection Consortium strengthens the presence of PDO cheese in Germany, the main European export market for the Veneto-Trentino specialty, with a project involving professional operators in the sector.
Starting from the recent success achieved by the activities carried out at Eataly Monaco and in other specialized store chains, the Consortium chooses to expand and qualify its value proposition in the German market by following the path traced at national level and initiating partnerships with the world of wine, Italian catering abroad and points of sale of Italian specialties.
The launch is scheduled for 7 February in the Lowenbraukeller in Munich, where Asiago cheese will meet operators and the press as the Official Cheese of the Gambero Rosso "Three Glasses Tour" stage, and will show its distinctive characteristics in the pairing masterclass with a selection of premium wines led by journalist Marco Sabellico, editor of the Gambero Rosso Vini d'Italia guide.
There will be an award dedicated to the Italian restaurant in Germany with the best selection of DOP Italian cheeses, awarded to chef Giorgio Cherubini, owner of the Osteria Der Katzlmacher, a historic restaurant in Munich and ambassador of the quality of Asiago cheese in Germany on its menu .
The Consortium's action continues at ProWein, the international wine fair scheduled in Düsseldorf from 10 to 12 March, with a series of masterclasses in German and guided tasting activities as part of the European campaign "That's Amore - European lifestyle: taste wonderfood", together with the Consortium for the Protection of Valpolicella Wines, the Vialone Veronese PGI Nano Rice and the oil varieties protected by the Verona Oil Producers Association.
