Maternity benefit supports women during the birth phase.
But how is it made up and does each person receive the same amount of contributions?
For many people, the birth of their own child is the most beautiful thing in their life.
But in addition to all the joyful emotions and feelings of happiness, it is of course also important that the mother receives financial support and can save on expenses during this exciting time.
That’s what maternity benefit is for.
The maternity benefit is paid out for the first time six weeks before the planned birth date.
Payment ends eight weeks after birth.
Exceptions: premature birth, more than one child or a disability in the newborn.
The deadline is then extended to up to 12 weeks after the birth, writes

Who receives all maternity benefits?
Pregnant women who have a job or are registered as unemployed.
Women with a mini-job, who can now look forward to an hourly wage increase, also receive maternity pay.
In addition to the money from the health insurance companies, pregnant women receive additional subsidies from their employer in this phase - if available.
Unemployed women and women without health insurance, on the other hand, are not entitled to maternity benefit.

The not entirely unimportant question remains about the amount of maternity benefit.
During this time, the employer pays the woman the usual net salary minus 13 euros per day, provided she earns at least 13 euros per day.
Mini-jobbers must earn at least 390 euros per month to fall under this regulation.
An example: If a woman earns 80 euros net per day, the employer pays 67 euros, and the remaining 13 euros are covered by the health insurance company.
In order to receive maternity benefit, pregnant women must submit an application to their health insurance company.
People with private or family insurance submit the application to the Federal Office of Social Work.
If the maternity benefit period has expired, women receive parental benefit, which is around 65 to 67 percent of net earnings, explains
