"Italy can offer us a lot, beyond what it has already given us in the last 150 years.
Its place in the European Union is important, and for us it can be a gateway."
This access key could "also be provided to us by other countries, but we have cultural, historical and commercial ties with the Italians",
says the Argentine Foreign Minister, Diana Mondino who will be in Rome with Milei in the mission starting on 11 February.
The Argentine delegation will participate, at the invitation of the Holy See, in the canonization of María Antonia Paz y Figueroa (popularly Mama Antula), who will become the first female saint of the South American country.
"We have two objectives in Italy. On the one hand, participate in a unique event in the Vatican, with the important meeting of President Milei with Pope Francis. And the second is a busy agenda of meetings", explains Mondino, highlighting that he participates in the mission a group of entrepreneurs.
With this trip "we try to convey credibility. Over the last 60 years, Argentina has not only failed to maintain its financial commitments but also the expectations it had generated", states the minister, indicating that the key economic themes of the visit concern energy , investment, science and technology and trade in the medical sector.
As for President Milei, the head of diplomacy clarifies: "they characterized him as a populist, but he is not like populists, who speak in the short term. We work for the next 35 years. We act in compliance with the Constitution: the Argentine Parliament the omnibus law is being discussed and we see the deputies working in January, (holiday period) and during the day. Before the sessions were dark and at night.
Something is changing."
