Pirate hunt, the Agcom shield goes live tonight - Last hour

Highlights: The launch of the new tool arrives on schedule following the conclusion of the technical round table last December. Assoprovider's appeal was overcome last week with the green light from the Lazio Regional Administrative Court. The first test will be tonight's Serie A match between Lecce and Fiorentina, but important responses are expected after Sunday's big match between Inter and Juventus. In England, the only other state to use a tool like this, the results appear positive for the moment even if it is a continuous chase against pirates.

The pirate hunt begins this evening with the new platform to block sites that illicitly broadcast copyrighted sporting events.

The launch of the new tool therefore arrives on schedule following the conclusion of the technical round table last December with which Agcom had defined the technical and operational requirements for its operation.

The last obstacle, Assoprovider's appeal, was overcome last week with the green light from the Lazio Regional Administrative Court, according to which "the Authority's action is aimed at providing rapid intervention tools against the massive phenomena of copyright violations online, but not in conflict with the exercise of the judicial function".

The functioning of the platform, called "PiracyShield", developed by the start-up of the Previti law firm donated by the Serie A football league.

It is based on a machine to machine system: the accredited owners, who have already obtained a precautionary measure for the protection of the protected right, in the event of further violations of the same right, can 'upload' the violation reports, assisted by an adequate evidentiary kit, on the platform which automatically redirects you to accredited ISPs who block the IP address and/or the FQDN (the full domain name) within the next 30 minutes.

A race against time, therefore, because the matches last 90 minutes and hackers are very quick to create new transmission addresses.

The first test will be tonight's Serie A match between Lecce and Fiorentina, but important responses are expected after Sunday's big match between Inter and Juventus.

In England, the only other state to use a tool like this, the results appear positive for the moment even if it is a continuous chase against pirates, just as happens with computer viruses.
