Most people use a shopping cart when shopping.
Many people noticed the plastic corners on the front.
But what are they actually good for?
Anyone who goes shopping in a supermarket or discount store often uses a shopping cart, especially for their weekly shopping.
Whether at Kaufland, Aldi or Lidl, the useful helpers are usually structured similarly.
However, while Kaufland has also installed a plastic corner on the inside that has a useful function, most shopping carts also have plastic corners on the front.
But why?
Plastic corners on shopping carts: Very few customers expect this feature
Shopping carts are usually helpful, but are also considered shopping traps due to their characteristics.
But there are also some useful functions on the shopping carts at Aldi, Lidl and Co. that hardly any users know about.
This also includes the plastic corners on the front of the car.
These are usually attached to the side, have different colors from model to model and are located on both sides of the “tip”.
But do they serve as protection against injury or scratches on the wall?
That was a guess for a long time, but now a large shopping cart manufacturer is clearing up the theories and explaining what the plastic corners are really intended for: They are intended to protect against noise pollution.
Very few customers probably expected this.
Plastic corners on shopping carts: protection against noise when returning items
As the experts from manufacturer “Wanzl” explain according to “chip.de”, the plastic corners at least block out some of the noise.
Especially when returning shopping carts, customers usually use more force to push one cart into the other.
This creates loud noises due to the metal grilles of the shopping cart colliding.
The plastic parts on the corners, which are sometimes also attached to the lower area, are intended to weaken this metal-to-metal impact and thus not cause a rattle in every single car that is returned.
Especially in the city or in populated areas, the use of shopping carts could quickly annoy residents.
