The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces in 2023 "left a certain negative residue, there were tactical errors that both the military and political command speak of", therefore during the new offensive "Ukraine must change tactics".
The advisor to the Ukrainian president, Mykailo Podolyak, claims this in a long interview on Ukrainian Channel 24, while for days there have been rumors of the torpedoing of the head of the Ukrainian army Valery Zaluzhny.
As for the replacement of the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhnyj and the question whether his place will be taken by the head of the Gur Kyrylo Budanov, Zelensky's advisor states: "War is war, there is no political process. Everything regarding personnel decisions is up to the Supreme Commander in Chief. Given the need to realize a strategic objective, he needs operational tactical decisions and an understanding of what we will do tomorrow or the day after."
For Podolyak, "strategic responsibility for the war lies with the Supreme Commander. His immediate line of command appoints him, if you'll excuse the comparison, operational managers of the war. These are not elective or political positions".
War, he adds, "is about results. If these results are there, then they can be further implemented, because Russia, through Putin's mouth, declares that it will continue to attack us. The only way to punish Russia for all its war crimes is to prevent it to win."
As for changing the mobilization, the presidential advisor, while admitting that it is a difficult decision, maintains that "it must be modernized. It must meet the requirements of warfare of the type we have today. This is a big, long-term, large-scale war."
