According to our information, several LR senators are preparing to table a bill aimed at
“guaranteeing a fair and equitable method of calculating basic retirement pensions for self-employed workers in agricultural professions”
.
The elected representatives of the upper house were not convinced by the way in which the government intends to reform the method of calculating pensions.
The subject of this quarrel could well reignite the anger of the agricultural world.
According to INSEE statistics, France has 1.3 million former self-employed farmers.
Their direct pension amounts, on average, to 840 euros gross per month, compared to 1,530 euros for all retirees.
This discrepancy is explained, in part, by an unfavorable calculation method.
