Highlights: Schools, middle and high schools: unions call for a new day of strike Tuesday February 6. A first day of mobilization was organized on Thursday. According to figures from the Ministry of Education, 20.26% of teachers were on strike. The strike was launched in December, before the arrival of Amélie Oudéa-Castéra rue de Grenelle to succeed Gabriel Attal, appointed to Matignon. But the minister, promoted three weeks ago to the head of a super-ministry, has crystallized the discontent.

After a first day of mobilization on Thursday, an inter-union is calling for the strike to be renewed next Tuesday, February 6.

The anger does not subside.

A new day of strike in National Education is planned for Tuesday February 6.

The decision was taken following an inter-union meeting which took place Friday afternoon.

Behind this call are several unions, including Snes-FSU, the leading union in middle and high schools, Sud Éducation and the CGT Éduc'action.

In their demands, we find a bit of everything that has fueled the anger of the teaching world for several years: degraded working conditions, the demand for better salaries, the lack of resources to accommodate students with disabilities, but also the defense of public schools, even though it may have been called into question with the Amélie Oudéa-Castéra controversy.

Diversified stocks

The Snes-FSU therefore proposes to continue the mobilization.

Beyond the strike day, “diversified actions” will be proposed the rest of the week “to make heard the demands of staff for public, secular and compulsory schools and increased salaries: questioning of elected officials , meetings with parents, school AGM, installation of banners, press release to the local press…” indicates the majority union.

🔴To win, let's continue the action!

In a separate press release, the CGT Éduc'action “calls on staff to make the week of February 5 a week of action in Education and to strike on February 6, 2024”.

“The study conditions of students and the working conditions of staff are degraded by successive reforms and the chronic lack of resources,” deplores Sud Éducation in a press release, calling for mobilization next Tuesday.

📢Majority strike on February 1st, let’s give ourselves the means to win!

A first day of mobilization was organized on Thursday.

According to figures from the Ministry of Education, 20.26% of teachers were on strike.

The Snes-FSU, the leading secondary school union, estimated the rate of strikers in middle and high schools at 47%, and the FSU-Snuipp, the main primary union, counted 40% of strikers in nursery and elementary schools.

The call for this first day of strike for all education staff was launched in December, before the arrival of Amélie Oudéa-Castéra rue de Grenelle to succeed Gabriel Attal, appointed to Matignon.

But the minister, promoted three weeks ago to the head of a super-ministry, in which Education and Youth are added to Sports and the Olympic Games for which she was already in charge, has crystallized the discontent.

His controversial declarations upon taking office, justifying the registration of his children at the elitist private establishment Stanislas with "lots of hours not seriously replaced" in the public, assertions subsequently denied, have still not been passed.
