Stock up: How to do it right

Since the corona pandemic, food stocks have played a larger role than before when shopping.

The Federal Office for Disaster Relief and Civil Protection (BBK) has long been recommending that citizens stock up on water, food and hygiene products.

The supply calculator from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture allows you to determine the amount of supplies required for your own household.

The online calculator can be used for up to 10 people for 28 days.

Data from the German, Austrian and Swiss Nutrition Society were used.

The BBK also recommends storing enough food and drink for 10 days.

Care should be taken to use up and refill the supply regularly.

As a guideline, it can be said that each person needs around 2 liters of fluid and 2200 calories per day.

However, these are general recommendations.

If you have specific nutritional needs, you should stock up accordingly.
