Many animals die of thirst in winter when the water freezes.
But a simple tennis ball can save lives.
This trick works.
Kassel – Whether for drinking, showering or washing, the water flows from the tap whenever you need it, even in winter.
However, things are completely different in the animal world.
Because no matter whether birds, squirrels or rabbits, they all need water to survive.
This becomes a problem not only during hot periods but also in the cold season.
When water freezes in freezing temperatures, many animals die of thirst.
But a simple trick that can be used in your own garden can help and prevent the animals in the garden from dying of thirst.
Tennis ball in the garden prevents the water from freezing
The remedy here is something that most people probably have in the house anyway, a tennis ball.
This is explained by the animal protection organization in England and Wales “Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals” (RSPCA).
Because: The ball can prevent small parts of the water from freezing over.
The tennis ball trick can be used on any potion and is very uncomplicated.
No matter whether it's a pond, birdbath or small tub, the ball just has to be thrown into the water and the rest takes care of itself.

The reason for this: If the tennis ball floats on the surface of the water, the area around it does not freeze because it keeps moving.
Wild animals can then drink from this hole.
It also provides oxygen for the living creatures in a pond.
By the way: of course it doesn't always have to be a tennis ball, other small balls can also be used.
Just be careful, if the ball is very light, like a table tennis ball for example, it can easily fly away.
The first chirping of birds - for many a sign that spring is finally coming again.
But even in the cold season you can attract birds that overwinter in Germany to your garden.
Even self-made food is possible.
