Highlights: “Does this have to be real?” Rewe customer complains – and hits a nerve. “Just looked for fresh yeast along the refrigerated shelves at Rewe, the choice was almost endless. 347twelve x yogurt. Not to mention all the cheese variations, butter, etc. I personally don't need this XXXL selection, luckily." A small shop would probably be enough for her with the most important products for everyday use without the fuss. Or at least you should find the yeast quickly in Riesen-Rewes.

A Rewe customer from Lower Saxony denounces a personal nuisance and hits a nerve with many people.

Others don't see the problem.

Meppen - Of course it is more of a luxury problem that a Rewe customer from Lower Saxony is denouncing.

After all, it is more of a sign of a society that is basically doing well.

And even in the supermarket there are worse things - for example people who cause such sights ("How antisocial can you be?").

But the user still hits a nerve on X (formerly Twitter) when she complains about a personal supermarket annoyance: an excess of choice!

She just wants yeast!

Rewe customer feels overwhelmed by the selection in a supermarket in Lower Saxony

She posted three photos from a Rewe branch.

“Does this have to be real?” she asks.

“Just looked for fresh yeast along the refrigerated shelves at Rewe, the choice was almost endless.

347twelve x yogurt.

butter, etc. I personally don't need this XXXL selection, luckily." A small shop would probably be enough for her with the most important products for everyday use without the fuss.

Or at least you should find the yeast quickly in Riesen-Rewes.

In some markets, the team has already developed an idea for this problem.

Yoghurts and cheeses as far as the eye can see, but where is the yeast?

Is there too much choice in German supermarkets?

The Rewe customer seems to have hit a nerve with some people, as can be seen in the comments.

“Just kills you” or “I don’t need it either.”

A selection that is too large just becomes confusing,” they say.

Or: “Or ten meters of shelves with fabric softener.

Five-story.

No one.

Needs.

Fabric softener.” The Rewe customer from Lower Saxony agrees: “Should I tell you something?

I wander through this endless senseless consumer neglect like a rabbit on the run.

Fabric softener no no. Household vinegar, with every wash, used for ages... dissolves the limescale.”

The Rewe customer complained with three photos.

Too much choice in German supermarkets?

Not for everyone!

“I’d like to try it out”

Another user thinks: The Germans are doing really well, they just don't appreciate it enough.

“Exactly, such excessive luxury and yet many Germans are dissatisfied.

That reminds me: 'If the donkey gets too comfortable, he goes on the ice.'" One user also sees the positive behind the huge selection - and likes to jump into it: "It's good that a lot of choice is possible is.

There's no question that you could also get by with just one type of cheese, for example.

But I'd like to try it out little by little.

If there was a toilet paper that was as hard as sandpaper, then this statement wouldn’t be there, would it?”

“Market buying is even more intense!

That’s where I got lost.”

Rewe customer from Lower Saxony hits a nerve, many react: “I was overwhelmed by the amount of choice”

Others also report on their experiences: “I once stood in a huge supermarket looking for wonton soup.

I was overwhelmed by the amount of choice, as were the other departments.

I fled without having achieved anything.

I think it's grossly exaggerated.

Diversity is all well and good, but not like that,” writes one.

And another: “Amazing!

That's how it is here at Kaufland, everything is newly made.

You can only be amazed.

But my cod liver, which I love to eat, is no longer in the range.”

The result of their yeast search – there was a happy ending.

The comment “Then emigrate to North Korea!” is probably meant as a joke, but it also makes a point: it is a sign of prosperity in Germany that there is pretty much everything, from mini-supermarkets to giant stores.

And you should just go for what you like better.

When you just need a cube of yeast and end up in a giant Rewe, it really puts a strain on your nerves.

After all: the Twitter user, who says she comes from Meppen in Emsland (Lower Saxony), ended up with her yeast, as she explains to our editorial team.

And was able to bake juicy bread.

A few months ago, another Rewe customer felt very patronized and was angry.
