A demonstration by German farmers, involving at least a thousand tractors, is creating inconveniences in car access to Frankfurt am Main airport, the most important in Germany.
"1,000 tractors in Frankfurt. Farmers block the largest German airport", underlines the website of the 'Bild' newspaper, specifying that "the main access roads" to the airport, those passing through the A3 and A5 motorways "are closed, as is the ring road B 43".
The participation of 2,000 tractors had been announced the day before, reports the Dpa agency, reporting that the police expected the closure of the roads "until the afternoon".
The airport company "Fraport" has asked passengers to use public transport or to allow longer access times by car to the airport.
German farmers have been protesting for weeks above all against the revocation of tax refunds for agricultural diesel.
