Munich – Many consumers will see price increases in 2024.

Almost as many stayed at their previous prices, and very few even lowered their prices.

Consumer advocates have therefore taken a closer look at the increases: “All health insurance companies are allowed to charge this additional contribution.

This means that some health insurance companies are cheaper and others are more expensive,” says Julika Unger from the consumer advice center.

Insured people should therefore take a close look at whether and by what percentage the additional contribution has increased with their health insurance company.
“If you change your health insurance provider, you could save between 100 and 600 euros a year.
Of course, that depends on what kind of gross income I have, and the additional contribution is calculated on that,” says Julika Unger.
It must be noted that there is usually a notice period of two months.
Insured people will then be bound to the new health insurance company for twelve months.
When choosing a new health insurance company, you should pay attention not only to the price, but also to the services.
Not every health insurance company offers the same dental services or, for example, sports.
If insured people are currently undergoing treatment or have just been approved for an aid, they may want to wait before changing their health insurance provider.
Changing your health insurance company is very easy: insured people just have to register with the new insurance company.
