A note on a mailbox leads to a discussion online.

What happens if letters have an incorrect zip code?

And: Can this still be changed?

Berlin – Careless mistakes happen to everyone, especially when things have to be done quickly.

In Berlin, a woman wanted to send mail to Hamburg and wrote the wrong zip code on the letter.

Unsure whether her mail will reach the right recipient, she addresses a note to the postman and sticks it to the mailbox.

She briefly explains which letter has the wrong zip code on it and asks, “Can you change that?”

The internet is wondering what will happen to the woman's letter now.

Incorrect postal code leads to strange note on mailbox: “Can you change that?”

In the comments under the Instagram post, many people are sure that the letter will still reach the right recipient.

“Normally, as long as the street, house number and city are included, the letter should still arrive,” one person wrote.

Other users even know the dilemma themselves and have been lucky.

“I once sent a letter without a zip code.

It arrived,” says one comment.

Another person is at least sure that the letter will not be lost.

“It also has a sender on it.

I would say the letter will be processed and either, with luck, will be sent to the recipient or returned and paid twice.” That could just take a little longer, because the post office should have more time to deliver letters.

Is the note on the mailbox unfriendly?

“A please never hurt anyone.”

Other people in the comments are bothered by the note, with one person commenting: “A please never hurt anyone.” Another person writes: “Do people like that really believe that the postman is now going through the whole bag of mail because of them?” One Another person agrees and writes: “He doesn’t have any time to look through their mail.”

However, one person in the comments also had a different experience and wrote: “I had already put the letter in the box without a stamp.

I noticed it as soon as I threw it in and threw a piece of paper with the stamp after it.

The letter was covered with stickers.” You just need a bit of luck.
