In Austria, there are said to be well over 20 parking tickets on a parked car.

Residents express concern.

Vienna - Curious case of unauthorized long-term parking in Austria: In Schwechat, which is southeast of Vienna, a driver has been collecting tickets for weeks because his vehicle is parked in the short-term parking zone without a valid parking permit.

Residents are starting to get worried.

As the Austrian news portal

meine.at

reports, a run-down Opel Corsa has been parked in a short-term parking zone on Schloßmühlstrasse for several weeks.

The car is literally covered in parking tickets.

They lie on the windshield between the windshield wipers.

Apparently the parking attendants are having a hard time finding free spots, and there are already notices stuck in the passenger door, as a picture on

shows.

Old Opel Corsa in Austria littered with traffic tickets

Apparently she feels no one is responsible for the car.

A resident is now worried.

“With all my love, I can’t imagine that I’m the only person who finds this whole thing suspicious.

The parking tickets have been piling up for weeks, but no one would think that there might be something wrong,” the woman said

She is surprised that no one has investigated the matter yet.

“Something really could have happened to the car owner.

Why else would he not move his vehicle for over a month.” But steps have apparently already been taken.

The Lower Austria State Police Directorate (LPD) announced that in such cases they check whether the vehicle is connected to a criminal offense.

But this takes time.

Flood of traffic tickets: the penalty is now likely to exceed the value of the car

There are said to be well over 20 parking tickets on the old Opel Corsa or stuck in the door.

If you calculate with the minimum fine of 25 euros per traffic ticket, you get a fine of 625 euros for 25 tickets.

But the amount is likely to be higher now.

According to the LPD Lower Austria, a maximum deposit period of 14 days applies.

If it is not adhered to, the procedure runs through the administrative authority.

In that case the penalty would be significantly higher.

The entire claim is now likely to exceed the estimated value of the car, between 500 and 700 euros.

Illegal parking can be really expensive in Austria.

A vacationing couple received a 1,000 euro fine because they parked illegally for just a short time.

An illegal parking issue in Germany was also strange.

A driver received an offer of a date as a “traffic ticket”.
