Arne Dahl “Silent Scream”

For Eva Nyman it is the first case and for Arne Dahl (“zero equals one”) the start of a new, promising crime series.

Dahl has been one of Sweden's most popular crime authors and a representative of Nordic Noir for years.

In her first case, Eva Nyman is dealing with unscrupulous acts that at first do not seem to be connected.

Is there a lone perpetrator behind it who is after much more?

Time is running out.

The tension also increases page by page.

Arne Dahl's crime novels guarantee high tension and atmospherically dense descriptions.

First it hits a boss in the steel industry, then a marketing manager working for the car lobby: in Sweden, home-made bombs kill two people before the bomber contacts the police - and threatens more.

A climate activist gone astray, it seems, who babbles about sin, holy anger and revenge in his letters.

Kästner & Kästner “Crime Scene Harbor – Death at the Landungsbrücken”

It's not just the Scandinavians who can do crime novels.

The Hanseatic city of Hamburg also offers a wonderful backdrop for exciting novels.

Angélique and Andreas Kästner are now entering the crime scene together with their debut “Tatort Hafen – Death at the Landungsbrücken”.

What sets the book apart are the authentic descriptions and fast-paced chases on the water, because Andreas Kästner was chief inspector of the water police in Hamburg until 2023.

The atmospheric descriptions and crisp dialogues are fun!

Here you can find more crime novels set in Hamburg.

At the tourist magnet St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken, the barge captain Dominic Lutteroth is found dead on his excursion boat.

The case, which immediately attracted a lot of media attention, ended up on the desk of the experienced chief detective Jonna Jacobi - who actually wanted to cut back shortly before her retirement.

Instead, a young mother now has to be informed about her husband's death before she finds out about it from the news.

Max Seeck “Orphan Island”

Police officer Jessica Niemi becomes involved in a conflict, resorts to violence and is accidentally picked up by a bystander.

The recorded video spread like wildfire on the internet and led to her temporary suspension.

To recover from the incident, Jessica decides to take a trip to the Åland Islands, which lie between Sweden and Finland.

On the island she meets a group of seniors who had to flee the war as children and spent their childhood in an orphanage on the island.

“Orphan Island” is the fourth volume in the Jessica Niemi series and once again promises typical Nordic elements of suspense.

The previous volume, “Enemy Sacrifice,” will be published in paperback in February.

When one of the elders is found dead, Jessica begins to investigate.

Because two people had already died in the same mysterious way before.

All three victims seem to be connected to the legend of “The Girl in the Blue Coat”...

John Grisham “The Abduction”

After 20 million copies of “The Company” have been sold and after 30 years, John Grisham’s sequel about Mitch McDeere is coming to bookstores under the title “The Abduction”.

The first volume was made into a film in 1993 with Tom Cruise in the lead role.

McDeere now works in Manhattan.

He let his old company go down.

But his everyday working life isn't quite so calm, because a crime catches up with him again.

The publisher's information sounds exciting.

For fans of action who know and like Grisham's experienced tension curve.

When a mentor in Rome asks him for a favor, Mitch quickly finds himself at the center of a murderous conflict.

He is supposed to end a hostage situation by paying an immense ransom, but the circumstances are dramatic.

Soon it's not just him who is in danger, but also those close to him.
