Driven by his single
One day I will marry an angel
, Pierre de Maere has just, at 21, ended a prosperous year.
After a series of sold-out concerts at the Olympia, he worked on his second album and began a French tour, which will culminate in a climax at the Zénith de Paris-La Villette on March 28.

My current state?
I jumped for joy when I was told that my album,
Look at Me
, was certified gold.
I also felt relieved, because I suffered from imposter syndrome for a long time.
I told myself that I didn't know how to sing and that my songs weren't good enough to make a record.
It's very pleasant to confront one's fantasies with reality, and to realize that, ultimately, it is the public who decides to honor an artist or to ignore him.
I have great tenderness for this first album, despite its few awkwardnesses.
It's a calling card, but I want to go further, do something crazier.
Touch people's hearts.
My news?
My single
Wednesday
, as a nod to
The Addams Family
.
I portray an imaginary character who refuses to be associated with the overly reasonable and formatted world of adults.
He maintains a candor, and still believes in his dreams.
He is a Salinger character for whom childhood is the age of truth, of intransigence, outside of which there is neither life nor joy.
My artistic character?
I am an authentic singer on stage.
A performer who dreams of taking the public on a journey through atmospheres and scenes in which people want to live.
I like the idea of transporting them into utopian transfigurations of everyday life, of pacing them in my gentle madness with sounds, flashes and visuals like Pink Floyd or Arcade Fire.
I am passionate about the visual arts – I love the work of creators like Olivier de Sagazan – and I hope that the emotions and observations they generate in me radiate into my stage performances.
A fault that I share with this character?
I am hypersensitive and excessive.
Either I dramatize or I idealize.
I often fall in love with fictional characters, by the way;
in real life, it's less simple.
But I always end up finding a way, thanks to humor and self-deprecation, which are my best allies.

Is talking about myself in promos a chore?
I enjoy it.
I am a good student, I am not one of those tortured artists who respond with a series of barely whispered rebuses.
I'm just very embarrassed, however, when people talk to me about artists or records that I don't like at all, but that I don't want to criticize in public.
In seduction mode or in warrior mode in an interview?
Rather in a form of brazen seduction.
I like to trigger unexpected reactions in others.
In reality, I'm a shy person, so I fill the void by sometimes asking the questions myself and answering them immediately.
A tip to defuse possible attacks or trick questions.
My ideal interview outfit?
On set, I often wear romantic, very graphic costumes in bright colors.
I like English designers, Balenciaga's cuts.
I also like jewelry.
A misunderstanding about me?
As I love the French language and fashion, people tend to believe that I am a spoiled and slightly arrogant bourgeois son who has never lifted a finger.
What is wrong.
