Munich – Speed offenders should be careful, because there will also be a nationwide speed camera marathon this year – on several days.
Drivers should therefore be even more careful when accelerating in spring to avoid falling into the speed trap.
On which days will the speed camera marathon 2024 take place?

, as in 2023, the speed checks will be carried out by the police authorities in all federal states for a whole week.
But municipal speed cameras are also in use.

It is not yet known which federal states will actually take part in Speed Camera Week (as of February 4th).
Last year, according to the portal, everyone except Bremen, Berlin and Saarland were there.
Other EU countries, such as Spain, France and Hungary, are also carrying out the so-called “Roadpol Operation Speed”.

Italy will probably take part again, where a speed camera Robin Hood, the “Flexi-Man”, is currently causing problems for the authorities.

The focus of the speed camera marathon is primarily on April 19th.
On this day, both police officers and municipal inspectors, such as those from the public order office, will be deployed from early in the morning to late in the evening.
Roads where accidents and speeding occur more frequently are particularly affected.
The same applies in zones near schools, kindergartens or retirement homes.
As in previous years, the specific locations of the speed cameras will only be announced a few days before speed camera week.
A new speed camera week will take place in April.

The speed camera marathon is intended to encourage more and more drivers to stick to the prescribed speed limits.
Ultimately, the number of annual traffic deaths in Germany was 2,788 in 2023. The Federal Statistical Office provides information about this.
The most successful speed camera is probably in Baden-Württemberg - it triggers up to 3,000 times here.
The Radar Marathon has been taking place in spring for many years.
Even though drivers are likely to be particularly careful during speed camera week, the following applies: In zones with a speed limit, it is always better to take your foot off the accelerator in good time.
