On the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2024,
the SOS Telefono Azzurro Foundation is organizing the event
"Even a child arrives"
in Milan and Rome on 5 and 6 February,
two days of debate dedicated to the digital future of children.
Adolescents are increasingly users and consumers of internet services and this allows those who provide them to collect data of all kinds, especially that of the little ones.
For example, as emerges from the new research by Doxa Kids, which will be presented in Milan during the event organized in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan,
42% of children use Artificial Intelligence to find answers to problems they cannot solve .
A worrying phenomenon, as demonstrated by the experience of Telefono Azzurro, which has noted that in recent years, an increasing number of teenagers are using chatbots to try to find solutions to their personal and often psychological problems.
It is therefore a priority for the SOS Telefono Azzurro Foundation to identify greater protection for children and adolescents by placing their value and dignity at the center of debate and action.
The debate over the two days will involve academic experts, institutions and companies to address the topic in a transversal manner.
«Our goal is to help lay the foundations for high-impact actions on multiple levels - institutional, corporate and educational - that protect the rights of children and adolescents online.
In fact, we believe that it is the responsibility of institutions, companies and communities to protect minors from the risks of the web and new AI technologies.
However, it is necessary to intervene not simply on the level of security and control but it is necessary to implement educational actions capable of guaranteeing the complete protection of the minor and at the same time making the minor aware of the risks present on the internet and therefore able to avoid them. ” -
declares Ernesto Caffo, president of Telefono Azzurro.
