"I find the tractors' protest absolutely right, sacrosanct, for the right to work and the protection of one's job. But no one has contacted me and I have not contacted anyone".
Amadeus says so, in the press room in Sanremo, after the farmers' request to be hosted at the festival.
Fiorello jokes about it: "It would be good for them to arrive, you don't find a stage like this every day, I'm making an appeal to come".
And Amadeus: "If they come I'll let them go on stage."
Never received pressure from RAI to hold a Melonian festival.
Amadeus then sends back to the sender the accusations of having had to follow instructions from the company to avoid scandals and controversies in Sanremo.
"I met Sergio as soon as he became CEO and he told me: 'you can continue to do the festival freely as you have done in the last 4 years'. He never made a phone call to ask me who will be there. In previous festivals I never looked for sensational things on the table" .
And he concluded: "My festivals are not partisan, in the past I have been attacked from both the right and the left."
"I am in love with Sanremo - he underlines -, but everything must end. I am flattered by the affection of Rai and the public, but I believe that five years are enough to end, I hope, with a beautiful party. However, I will remain in love with Sanremo for life".
