Chai Latte, a wonderful mix of black tea, milk and fragrant spices, has developed into a true comfort drink that can now be bought in almost every coffee shop for a lot of money.

It's cheaper and without large amounts of added sugar if you simply make the delicious hot drink yourself!

You need these ingredients for two glasses of aromatic chai latte:

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 6 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

  • 6 cloves

  • 2 cups milk (whole milk, almond milk, soy milk or oat milk)

  • 1 teaspoon ginger, freshly grated

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

  • 1 pinch of black pepper (optional)

  • 2 black tea bags or loose black tea

  • Brown sugar or agave syrup

The preparation is quick and easy:

  • Roast the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods and cloves in a pot without fat until the spices smell fragrant.

  • Add milk or milk alternative and remaining spices such as ginger, nutmeg and pepper if desired.

  • Bring to the boil while stirring.

    Reduce heat, add black tea and let steep for about ten minutes over low heat.

  • Pour milk through a fine sieve into two cups.

  • Sweeten the chai latte with brown sugar or agave syrup as desired.

  • Enjoy!
