Black day for the A22
in Emilia.
The toll of injured people following the
huge collision caused by fog
on the
A22
this morning and which involved around a
hundred vehicles
, from km 288 to 294, heading south, is growing with each passing minute.
At the moment the toll is
25 injured
: 11 were taken in code one, i.e. low severity, to Carpi hospital;
9 always in code one at the Modena Polyclinic, 3 in code two, i.e. of medium severity in the hospitals of Baggiovara and Carpi in the Modena area and in that of Mantua and 2 in code three i.e. very serious.
One taken to the hospital in Baggiovara, in the Modena area and one in Bologna.
In another accident which occurred at 11.55, hours after the collision,
a truck driver died on the A22 in the Modena area
.
The accident, which involved two articulated vehicles, occurred at kilometer 308 heading north, in the municipality of Campogalliano.
The Modena firefighters were on site, also with a crane, the traffic police and the 118 with an air ambulance.
In addition to the maxi-collision in the Autobrennero (km 293 south) and in addition to the accident which occurred at km308, there is
another accident
which is blocking traffic and creating major inconveniences in Emilia:
on the A1,
between Reggio Emilia and Modena, at km 153 north, where firefighters and emergency vehicles are responding.
In the province of Brescia
, according to initial information, two
dead and several injured
are the toll from a pile-up that occurred this morning
along the A21
.
Many vehicles were involved, including two car transporters full of cars.
The motorway was closed from the Manerbio toll booth.
The victims were trapped in the vehicles.
Rescue operations were also difficult due to the fog.
"It's the fault of the fog" repeat the police and rescuers involved in the huge pile-up that occurred along the A21 motorway in the Brescia area between Manerbio and Pontevico.
Between trucks, vans, two car transporters and cars, there are dozens of vehicles involved with two dead, several injured and a total of around fifty people involved.
The motorway is still closed and there is a queue of over ten kilometres.
Several police officers attended the scene
